Marathon Petroleum offers financial support through several programs. Whether you or your family are adopting a child, pursuing a higher education, making a contribution to a college or university or volunteering at a nonprofit organization, we encourage and want to help you achieve those goals.

Educational Reimbursement

The Educational Reimbursement Plan offers financial assistance for two types of education-related expenses: 1) tuition for courses under an approved degree program or single courses outside a degree program, and 2) Certification and Licensing (C&L) assistance for an approved licensing or professional certification program.

Upon successful completion of an approved course, the Company will reimburse eligible expenses, including tuition, textbooks, supplies and required fees, subject to a maximum reimbursement of $5,250 per calendar year for an undergraduate program or $9,000 per calendar year for a graduate program.

Employee Giving & Volunteer Portal

The Employee Giving & Volunteer Portal can be accessed at https://marathonpetroleum.yourcause.com. Summary program descriptions and quick-step navigation guides are provided below.

Employee Giving Program

MPC locations throughout the enterprise will be participating in MPC’s Employee Giving Program. Qualified employee donations made to eligible organizations throughout the year will be matched by the company, with a $10,000 annual cap as payments are processed. MPC reserves the right to alter the company match amount without notice based on business environment. Program payment options will include payroll, credit card or offline (qualifying previous donations not recorded in the Portal). The company match will be paid directly to the qualified charity selected by the employee, as donations are processed. Payroll deductions will begin within 2-3 pay periods after making the election. Employees may elect to give to any non-profit organization, and their donation along with any qualified Company matching funds will go to the eligible charitable organization the employee selected.

Volunteer Incentive Program

To support and encourage employee involvement in the community, MPC will award eligible individual employees a $500 virtual CauseCard redeemable in the portal to the eligible charity of their choice for a minimum of 24 hours of qualified volunteer hours. (Hours may be pooled from multiple events for this individual award.) In addition, eligible employees may apply for an additional $500 grant on behalf of a qualified group volunteer event generating a minimum of 24 collective volunteer hours led by the employee with immediate family or other co-workers. The group award will be paid as a grant to the charity where the group volunteer event took place. The maximum number of grants eligible per year is two – one grant for the employee and one grant for the employee and immediate family member and/or internal employee group, for a maximum grant amount per employee per year of $1,000. You can record your volunteer time in increments in the Portal, and after Community Affairs’ monthly review of employees who have reached the 24-hour minimum, you should receive notification that your service was eligible and that your CauseCard is ready for redemption.
