How to request a change (within 31 days, including the date of the event)

Log into BenefitSolver by visiting www.myMPCbenefits.com/mybenefits.

Logging into BenefitSolver Instructions

  • Click on the Change My Benefits box.
  • Click on the Life Event box.
  • Choose the appropriate life event and proceed through the screens to complete the benefit change.
Documentation Needed (within 31 days, including the date of the event)
  • To add a child, a copy of the birth certificate OR a copy of the hospital birth record that includes the baby’s name, date of birth, and lists the parents’ names, or adoption papers are required.
  • To add a spouse, a copy of the marriage license is required.

Documentation must be provided within 31 days, including the date of the event.

To update your last name due to marriage, employees should visit Workday and type “legal name change” in the Workday search bar. If you need to update your dependent(s) names for benefits purposes, or you are a retiree/non employee, please email a copy of the new social security card and updated ID, reflecting the new name to Benefits@MarathonPetroleum.com.

Allowable Changes for marriage (within 31 days, including the date of the event)
  • For marriage, the effective date of coverage will be the later of the date of the event, or the date the request is made with BenefitSolver, www.myMPCbenefits.com/mybenefits.
  • Spouse and children and/or stepchildren may be added to the current Health Plan, the dental plan and vision plan.
  • Employee may enroll in or increase the FSA election. Please note that at least one payroll cycle must remain in the year for changes to be completed
  • Employees may enroll spouse and children and/or stepchildren to their current Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage or increase coverage.
  • Employees may enroll self, spouse and children and/or stepchildren to the optional life insurance plans. Please see the Life Insurance page for more information.
  • To update life insurance beneficiary information, click here.

  • If you and your spouse are both employed by Marathon Petroleum, be aware of the following:
    • Only one of you can insure eligible children.
    • You cannot be a member and a dependent of the same plan with the exception of Life insurance and AD&D. Employees may enroll an eligible dependent that is also covered as an employee or dependent under another MPC Life or AD&D policy.
Allowable Changes for Birth/Adoption (within 31 days, including the date of the event)
  • For birth or adoption, the effective date of coverage for Health only will be the date of birth or adoption. Dental and Vision will be effective the date of the event, or the date the request is made with BenefitSolver, www.myMPCbenefits.com/mybenefits.
  • Employees may enroll in, or increase, their FSA election. *HSA elections can be changed anytime with Fidelity.
  • Employees may enroll in, increase or waive Optional Employee Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Optional Spouse AD&D, or Optional Child AD&D.
  • Employee may enroll in, increase or waive optional life, optional spouse life, or optional child life. Please see the Life Insurance page for more information.

Active Employees: Did you know employees can now find answers to their Benefits/HR related questions immediately, within Workday? Visit Workday and enter your topic within the search bar at the top of the Workday screen to view related articles.

Can’t find your answer within an article? Workday also provides opportunities for employees to obtain answers by creating cases that are assigned to subject matter experts within MPC, to help answer your questions. To create a case, visit Workday and type “create a case” in the Workday search bar.
